Go green, breathe clean

Our forests, rivers, oceans, and soils provide us with food, air to breathe, and water to irrigate our crops. We also rely on them for a variety of other goods and services that are essential to our health, happiness, and prosperity.

These natural assets are frequently called the world's "natural capital." These advantages are also extremely beneficial to the economy, ranging from farming and forestry to leisure and tourism. When you add them all up, the total value of these advantages is astonishing.

Because nature is free, we frequently take it for granted and overuse it. We clear forests, overfish oceans, pollute rivers, and build over wetlands without considering the consequences. We incur enormous social and economic costs by failing to account for the benefits we receive from nature.

In celebration of National Clean Up Month, the Climate Change Commission (CCC) encourages every individual to take time to take these steps to help the environment:

  (1) Planting trees

Trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate enhancement, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.

 (2) Watering the plants/trees

When we plant, we must take care of it to ensure it will live and it will contribute to our environment

                                     (3) Cleaning

- Cleaning up the environment is essential to the survival of life on Earth. Maintaining a clean environment reduces pollution, protects endangered species, and aids in the preservation of the earth's
natural resources.

(4) Proper waste disposal

- With our waste being properly disposed of, our environment is cleaner, which means there are fewer health risks and hazards to worry about. This includes keeping our surroundings clean and ensuring that our society is as healthy as possible. It also reduces the likelihood of illness and disease spreading through the air, lowering the risk of respiratory illnesses. It also ensures that toxic products are not introduced into our waterways, where they can pollute the water and prevent us from having a clean water system.

                                                             (5) Using reusable items

- With the use of reusable items such as tote bags, water bottles, etc. the amount of plastic we throw away will be reduced which means pollution will lessen which results in having a cleaner and healthier environment.
